Silver Back Frequently Ask Questions (FAQs)

How often are your training class offered?

We typically offer classes each month, mostly on the weekends, but we can accommodate private classes. Just contact us for schedule coordination for class offerings outside of our normal scheduled times.

Does Silver Back Tactical Arms train children?

Yes, we start with kids as young as 8 yrs old or the age that the parents are comfortable.

Do You Work With Senior Citizens?

Absolutely, we believe that everyone has the right to defend themselves. Unfortunately our Senior’s have become targets, so we have specific strategies and techniques to make sure they are comfortable and have the dexterity to control the firearm safely. We work with them to ensure they have a firearm that matches their ability to operate safely and properly defend themselves.

What is the best handgun for a beginner shooter?

We recommend that a beginner shooter visit their local gun store/range and actually try out different handguns with different calibers. I suggest starting out with the 9mm and/or .380 caliber for concealed carry handguns. If you need someone to visit a store with you and help you choose, contact us today!

How much does it cost to take a class?

Our classes are very affordably priced starting from $75 to $300, depending on the skill difficulty of the class. We also offer some free digital classes that do not involve live fire, just information surrounding gun safety.

Do you do in-home training or Book Club/Group Training?

Absolutely, but not for all classes. Our beginner handgun training has a class component and a live fire component. Our advanced tactical training is typically done via outdoor range where class component is combined with live fire component. So, we have done group trainings in residences in the past for book groups, trade groups, family groups etc. We also can do CPR/First Aid/AED Training in home or at your location of choice.

How much ammunition do you think I should carry every day?

This is a good question, I would say that you should carry whatever you feel comfortable with, that you can conceal. As an instructor I like to carry a minimum of two (2) 21 round magazines and at least one (1) 17 round magazine that will on my person or in my vehicle. This ammo is for my handgun.

Some people may carry more or less, it is really about what is comfortable to the individual and that they train with their equipment i.e. the number of magazines they are comfortable carrying.

Do you provide corporate training and training for houses of worship?

Yes, we are certified via USSCA, Red Cross,  and ADVERT via Health Safety Institute to provide in depth active shooter training for organizations such as corporations, house of worship, non-profit, club/hobby organizations, real estate brokerages, medical offices, etc
